🎃 Create a magical Halloween at home with these 5 DIY workshops for kids
Halloween is the perfect opportunity to spend time with family while stimulating children's creativity. 🎃 1. Pumpkin lanterns made from recycled jars
Materials: glass yogurt jars, orange paint, black felt-tip pen, tea light candles.
Realization :
- Clean the glass jars and dry them.
- Paint the outside of the jars orange.
- Draw pumpkin faces with the black marker (Turn the jar upside down with the opening at the bottom for this step).
- Place a tea light candle inside.
Safety: Children can participate in painting and decorating, but lighting the candles must be done by an adult.
👻 2. DIY Stiff Cotton Gauze Ghosts
Materials: White cotton gauze (or thin compress), white liquid glue (like school glue), balloons or polystyrene balls (to form the head), plastic cups or bottles (to serve as a base), googly eyes or cut-out black paper, optional: glitter paint or silver spray for a chic effect Realization :

Slightly inflate a balloon (or use a polystyrene ball) to form the ghost's head. Place it on a cup or small bottle: this will serve as a base for the gauze.
- Pour some liquid glue into a small bowl and dilute it slightly with water (about 2 parts glue to 1 part water).
- Soak the cotton gauze in it until it is thoroughly saturated.
- Gently spread the soaked gauze over the balloon. Let it fall naturally to create folds. Allow to dry for at least 12 hours so that the gauze becomes stiff.
- Once dry, pop the balloon (if used) and remove it. Glue on googly eyes or cut out oval shapes from black paper. Add a string if you want to hang it.
🕷️3. Pom-pom spiders
Material : Black pom-poms (or colored as desired) in various sizes.
Black or dark-colored chenille yarn,
Googly eyes (or small pieces of paper for eyes),
Children's white glue (non-toxic)
(Optional) Glitter, paint, self-adhesive decorations for personalization
Realization :

Secure the spider's legs
- Cut the chenille stems to the appropriate length (approximately 10-12 cm)
Bend each wire to form the legs (you can refer to the photo for help)

Create the body
Choose a fairly large pom-pom.
Using white glue, attach four strands of yarn to either side of the pom-pom (see photo). You should have eight legs on each spider. Make sure the pom-pom completely covers the glued area. Let it dry. -
Add the eyes and decorate
Glue the googly eyes onto the pom-pom (“spider face”).
Decorate the paws with small touches: glitter, scraps of fabric, etc.
👾4. “Monster or pumpkin” masks
Material :
- Cardboard plates (white or kraft)
- Colored paints: orange, black, green
- Colored paper or cardboard for ears/leaves
- Googly eyes, felt-tip pens
- Elastic or ribbon to hold the mask
Steps:
- Protect the surface, prepare the paints.
- The child paints the plate in a base color (orange for pumpkin, black for wizard, etc.).
- Cut out shapes of leaves, ears or teeth from colored paper, and stick them onto the plate.
- Draw or glue on googly eyes according to the chosen character (You can also cut out holes instead of eyes).
- Attach an elastic band or ribbon to the sides to wear the mask or simply hang it up.
🎨 5. Monsters made from recycled tin cans

Material :
- Clean old tin cans
- Colored paint (orange, green, purple)
- Paper, felt-tip pens, glue
- Mobile eyes
Steps:
- Paint the box a bright color and let it dry.
- Add googly eyes, paper teeth, horns or wool hair.
